The Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools celebrates the fact that our individual schools, and independent schools in general, are stronger and more viable for the gifts of talent, time, energy and resources of those who recognize the lasting positive effects our schools have on society. In this spirit, in 2001, ADVIS initiated its annual Award for Visionary Service, which recognizes an individual or organization for their commitment to independent education.
The 2017 Visionary Service Award recipients are Lynn Gadsden, CPS Chair Emeritus, and Jocelyn Hillman, current Chair of the CPS Board of Trustees with the 2017 ADVIS Award for Visionary Service. This award recognizes the effort of these two founding partners of Community Partnership School, who over the past twelve years have dedicated themselves to the mission and students of CPS.
Eric Jones, CPS’ Head of School and ADVIS Trustee reflected on the awardees by saying, “Lynn and Jocelyn are core members of the enterprising group that conceptualized and created Community Partnership School. Their vision, discipline, and will embody this award's intent and serve as a model for independent school trustees broadly.”
