Assistant Director of Admissions    

The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling 840 students in grades PreK through 12. Located in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, the school is committed to educational excellence and dedicated to developing in each student a love of learning and a compassionate participation in the world.

The School is currently searching for an Assistant Director of Admissions. The candidate for this twelve month entry level position should have outstanding collaborative skills and excellent organizational skills. Reporting to The Director of Admissions/Enrollment Management, and working with other members of the Admissions Office and others in the Shipley community, the Assistant Director will be responsible for leading prospective families through the admissions process, and partnering with Admissions and Marketing/Communications to develop and implement admissions marketing efforts including social media communications.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, creative and flexible, have excellent communication skills, outstanding interpersonal abilities, a sense of humor and an interest in professional growth.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Developing an understanding of Shipley’s academic, athletic and arts programs, and community based culture.
  • Meeting with prospective families to introduce them to Shipley. 
  • Arranging for and following up after an applicant’s classroom visit. 
  • Recording admissions activity in Blackbaud, the Admissions Office database.
  • Helping to plan and attending all admissions events.
  • Serving as a member of the Admissions Committee.
  • Following up on admissions decisions and helping to welcome new families to Shipley.
  • Understanding and supporting decisions made by the Financial Aid Committee.
  • Working with the Admissions and Marketing/Communications Offices to develop and carry out a social media plan to support Shipley’s newly adopted strategic marketing plan.

Director of Admissions for Saint Basil Academy    
The Director of Admissions is responsible for initiating, developing, and meeting enrollment and school admissions’ goals at Saint Basil Academy, a 9th-12th grade, all-girl, private, Catholic high school located in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.

Reporting to the Principal, the Director of Admissions:

  • Responds to all inquiries pertaining to admissions into the academy, including forwarding literature, extending visitation invitations, and notifying prospective parents of admissions’ timeline and visiting days
  • Arranges visitations and tours through the academy for both elementary and transfer students, including the scheduling of classroom visitations
  • Coordinates recommendation data for potential students
  • Coordinates transcript data for transfer students
  • Works with principal and business manager in determining financial aid decisions
  • Collaborates with vice principal and development director on print/online communication, press releases, and advertising

Qualifications:
  1. Bachelors degree required
  2. At least 5 years successful experience initiating, developing, and meeting enrollment and school admissions’ goals
  3. Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships among current and prospective parents, faculty, board members, and local schools
  4. Experience with School and Student Services by NAIS (Financial Aid Needs Assessment)
  5. Experience in marketing, public relations, and advertising
  6. Experience with both print and online media

The Wyndcroft School is seeking a full time Director of Admission to manage recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students. The Admission Director for EC-8 oversees and directs all aspects of the admission and financial aid programs in a competitive independent school market.
