Visionary Service Award Information and Nominations
A vision is like a kernel that drops into the soil of the human spirit and takes on a life of its own.
It has self-sustaining, energy-creating capacities and produces life. Within the force field of a vision,
“service” can reach optimal effectiveness and fulfillment. ~Bob Lupton
ADVIS Visionary Service Award recipients are nominated by approved representatives from ADVIS member schools. Nominees’ contributions may reflect an ongoing or extraordinary gift of time, commitment, expertise, or financial support. Falling under one or more of the traditional categories of contributions of “Work, Wealth, and Wisdom,” or the more recent categories of “Raise Friends, Raise Funds, Raise Students,” award recipients should be:
  • Exemplary school trustees, volunteers, and/or philanthropists, or
  • Individuals, not directly tied to one institution, yet having had a profound impact on area independent school education, or
  • Education professionals who have shown outstanding commitment and service to the broader educational professional community in addition to their individual school.
Candidates may be nominated by school staff or trustees, with the approval of the Head of School, or by members of the ADVIS Board of Trustees. Nominations carry forward for a period of three years, at which time a candidate may be re-nominated. Those candidates who were nominated in 2017 and 2018 are still in the candidate pool, and need not be nominated again. In general, the ADVIS Board will not consider posthumous nominations.
