Purpose-Based Service Learning
For School Administrators including Heads, Associate/Assistant Heads, Division Heads and Deans, as well as and Department Chairs and Teacher Leaders
Service Learning moves us from ideas to purposeful action. Educators across the globe seek ways to add depth and meaning to the learning process. We want to know how to sustain and value the cultures—histories and traditions—around us. And we want to guide students in understanding and addressing the significant and complex issues facing our communities, locally and globally. This can be achieved through service learning.
Explore how service learning can strengthen academics, enhance youth self-knowing and leadership, and bring to life the mission of your school. Discover how service learning is a reliable process that builds transferable skills and knowledge to meet our present and be prepared for our future.
During this highly interactive day guided by Cathryn Berger Kaye, we will see how the concepts, principles, and process of service learning is applicable and achievable in our schools starting now!
What we will cover:
Why service learning matters
The five stages of service learning
Integrating service learning within academics
How service learning supports and advances best teaching practices and inquiry
Guidelines for advancing service learning within your school
