MCRC@ADVIS DEI Conference: 10/11/19
Calling all DEI Educators, Advocates and Allies!
Through workshops, keynotes, and other programming, the conference seeks to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in our schools and communities to improve academic, social-emotional, and professional performance outcomes for students and adults alike.
ADVIS invites you to submit your workshop proposal to be considered for inclusion in the 2019 DEI Conference line-up.
Submissions due June 30th - Notification of proposal status by early September.
All workshops will be 75-minutes in duration including Q&A/discussion, and need to designate a conference track from those listed below:
Organizational Development & Institutional Change for Equity and Inclusion
Building Capacity: Skills, Competencies, and Processes for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Equity & Inclusion Exemplars: Programs, Models, Best Practices, Promising Next Practices
Racial and Ethnic Identities: Developmental Models, Frameworks, Approaches
Social Justice, Activism & Allyship from the Classroom to the Community
MCRC@ADVIS seeks workshop sessions that add to the conference's value and serve attendees by offering opportunities for skill-building, learning, community-making and enrichment, and equipping attendees with knowledge, skills, and experiences to advance and promote equitable and inclusive practices and policies in all areas of school life. Final workshop selections will be made by the MCRC@ADVIS Program Committee based on their relevance to the conference’s stated purpose, as well other curatorial considerations such as overall diversity of the presentation roster. Proposals will be evaluated using the following criteria:
The proposed session adheres to a theme and interfaces with the needs, challenges, and opportunities in today’s schools, organizations, and society.
The session should bring to bear a new lens or perspective on its topic.
The session should present original research, applied knowledge of (others’) recognized research or theory, models or use of evidence-based practices, personal mastery, and/or reflective practice.
The session should lend itself to professional or personal application and change. It should be designed to encourage attendees to contemplate follow-up, continued exploration, and action planning on various levels.
CONFERENCE POLICIES & PROCEDURES
ADVIS is a nonprofit educational association with a responsibility to its members to carefully manage its resources. Presenting at the MCRC@ADVIS DEI Conference is done on a voluntary, pro bono basis. While registration fees are waived for presenters and co-presenters, ADVIS does not offer further remuneration or honoraria. All presenters and co-presenters must register using the special presenter promo-code (to be supplied upon presentation acceptance). Presenters must assume all other expenses, including travel and hotel (any exceptions must be pre-approved by ADVIS).
