Myra A. McGovern has worked for the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) since 1999. As the senior director of public information, she oversees the association’s public relations program, speaking on behalf of the association and independent schools, developing statistical resources, information, and referrals for reporters and editors across the country and around the world. She also leads the association’s advocacy team, working to promote independent education nationally. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications, including Education Week, The Phi Delta Kappan, The New York Times, The Washington Times, Washington Post, CASE Currents,
Prior to joining the NAIS staff, McGovern worked with a nonprofit group in Cork, Ireland, that provides visual and performing arts programs for disadvantaged children. She earned a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College in New York and a Master’s in Strategic Public Relations from the George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.
