Westtown School offers a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum within the precepts of its Quaker heritage, which emphasizes mutual respect, simplicity, and tolerance. Working in an environment that honors differences, dedicated faculty members stimulate the development of individual strengths as well as personal and social responsibility. The school offers a day program for grades pre-K through 10th, with a boarding option for freshmen and sophomores. Students who enroll before 8th grade have the option to board or remain day students in 11th and 12th grade, while those arriving in 8th grade and up must board junior and senior years. The required boarding program provides students with an invaluable opportunity to learn social and emotional life skills within the supervised setting of a deeply caring community. Special programs that reflect traditional Friends' integration of values with education include: the Work Program, wherein students contribute a daily half-hour of maintenance work in support of their school; and Service Network, which organizes volunteer opportunities off-campus. Founded in 1799, Westtown School is located on 600 acres in Chester County, PA, 25 miles west of Philadelphia.
