Professional Bio
Trina Gary is a visionary leadership coach, consultant, and former independent school educator and administrator passionate about fostering growth, self-awareness, and collaboration. With a proven track record of strengthening leadership within schools and organizations, she brings a wealth of experience to every space she enters.
Trina is the executive consultant and leadership coach for Brown-Gary Associates, LLC. Trina also founded and directs Independent Trust, a pioneering professional development and social impact network designed to uplift and connect independent school alumni of color. Her influence extends across the nonprofit sector, where she sits on the Boards of Trustees at Pomfret School (CT), The Harkness Institute (Mexico), and The Athenaeum (PA).
Trina’s career in independent schools has been rich and multifaceted. She has held various roles, including Associate Dean of Faculty, Director of Multicultural Education, Associate Director of Admissions, academic advisor, and instructor of English and history. She has also instructed educators as a summer faculty member at Diversity Directions and the Gardner Carney Leadership Institute (gcLi), and currently with Interfaith Philadelphia.
At the heart of Trina’s work is a deep commitment to building and empowering collaborative teams that learn from and with diverse communities. Trina has provided coaching services to educators who attended the NAIS Annual Conference, the NAIS Annual People of Color Conference, and the Annual Small Schools Conference, all held in Pennsylvania.
Trina holds an M.Ed. in Leadership in Learning and Instruction from Northeastern University, a BA in Urban Studies with a concentration in Economics from Trinity College, and coaching certifications from iPEC. When she’s not driving transformational change, Trina and her spouse enjoy traveling and spending cherished time with family.
