Professional Bio

Dan has decades of experience helping organizations—including financial services and technology firms, Fortune 500 companies, public and private schools, and nonprofits—navigate complex employment matters and avoid litigation. He has litigated hundreds of federal and state cases nationwide and serves as a mediator in Connecticut. In 2023, he was inducted into the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.

Known as a practical “go-to” resource, Dan brings a warm, solutions-oriented approach to sensitive workplace issues. He advises employers on reductions in force, investigations, leave and attendance, hiring and terminations, policies and handbooks, and wage-and-hour compliance, including audits and misclassification.

As a litigator, Dan zealously advocates for clients while clearly outlining the risks and benefits of each case. He has successfully defended wrongful termination claims at trial and on appeal, and has argued before the Second and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeals and the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts.

For more than 16 years, Dan has published the Connecticut Employment Law Blog, widely recognized as a leading employment law resource nationwide. He is also a sought-after speaker on employment law and technology-related issues for national and state organizations.

Dan is active in bar and community leadership and has been recognized for his service, including receiving the Connecticut Bar Association’s John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award. He has held leadership roles with the Connecticut Bar Foundation, community organizations, and nonprofit boards.
