Hosted in partnership with The Heads Network (THN), this event is for female current heads and aspiring leaders from THN and ADVIS member schools.
This spring, join us for a powerful day of learning designed to help women lead with clarity, confidence, and strategic influence.
The program opens with a workshop led by negotiation consultant Joan Moon, founder of Moon Negotiation, LLC and Harvard Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Collaboratory Fellow. Joan specializes in research-based strategies to navigate gender bias. In her interactive session, Proven Negotiation Strategies for Women, she will explore the latest research on gender and negotiation, debunk common myths, and share practical tools to help women navigate bias, manage difficult conversations, and negotiate more effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
In the afternoon, Ayanna Hill-Gill, President of ADVIS, will lead a strengths-based leadership workshop. A seasoned Head of School and executive coach, Yanni has led independent schools including Purnell School and Atlanta Girls School, where she advanced inclusive excellence and strengthened school culture. Drawing on the StrengthsFinder framework, she will guide participants in identifying their core talents and building complementary leadership teams that amplify collective impact.
Together, these sessions offer a dynamic blend of negotiation strategy and strengths based leadership, equipping women with the insight and tools to advocate for themselves, lead high performing teams, and leverage their full potential.

Lead Loudly
(in Your Strengths)
presented by Ayanna Hill-Gill,
ADVIS President and Executive Coach
This workshop will challenge participants to lead from their strengths instead of striving from exhaustion. Yanni will invite participants to name, own, and lead from the strengths that make them most effective. Grounded in each participant’s StrengthsFinder results, this interactive session will examine how their talents show up in their leadership, shape team culture, and influence the way they navigate challenge and opportunity. Through reflection, conversation, and practical application, participants will gain clarity about what energizes their leadership, where they create the greatest impact, and how to partner with others in ways that strengthen the whole.
Yanni has held several leadership positions in independent schools, including serving as Head of School at Purnell School in New Jersey and Atlanta Girls' School in Georgia- where she was actively involved in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, having integrated anti-bias work into school culture and curriculum and increasing the diversity of student and staff populations. Yanni has received numerous honors and awards throughout her career, including being named an EE FORD NAIS Aspiring Heads Fellow and a Joseph Klingenstein Fellow.
Yanni works with individual school leaders as an executive coach and, as President of ADVIS, works with Boards of schools on governance and best practices. Yanni has served on various national and local boards, including the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools, The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), and the Emory University Visiting Board of Trustees. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum and an active member of Kiwanis International.
